NKOTB Archives

The 1980's were known as the MTV generation. Many musical groups would probably not have been as popular as they had been, if it weren’t for MTV and the venue of the music video. One group, in particular, gained immense popularity from this media phenomenon. The New Kid On The Block Videos were one of the main reasons that these five boys from Boston played to such large arenas of screaming fans.

As their popularity began to climb, their videos became some of the most watched pieces on MTV. It gave girls all over the world a chance to decide which of the Boston boys was their favorite, and gave the boys a chance to showcase their own talents. Each of the kids had a particular vibe that set them apart from the rest of the group.

Though the group broke up in 1994, they reunited in 2008 to outstanding reviews. They released a new album, along with a couple of new singles. And, in true NKOTB form, they made a video to go along with the song “Summertime”. It proved that although the boys are all grown up, they can still make good music and cause the girls to swoon over their videos.

Over the years, girls of all ages have fallen in love with these Boston boys. From the mid-80's, through the 21st century, the music of this famous boy band has been brought to the forefront of the music industry, thanks in part to the New Kids On The Block Videos.

In 1984, a bunch of boys from Boston were brought together by the music mogal, Maurice Starr. Within only a short time, this group would become one of the most famous boy bands of the 80's and 90's. Though they each had something special about them personally, it was because of the New Kids On The Block Songs, that made girls scream and grow weak in the knees.

Their first song was released in 1986. The song, “Be My Girl”, received some air time in the Boston area, but as for the national market, they seemed doomed from the start. They released a second song from their debut album called “Stop It Girl”, but again, it went nowhere. It was beginning to look as though the group would never catch a break.

In 1988, the group released their third single, which came from their second album. The song, “Please Don’t Go Girl”, seemed destined to go the same way as the first two, but then their luck began to change. A radio station in Florida began giving this song more air time, and it quickly became one of the most requested songs at the station.

After that, it was a fast moving roller coaster for the boys. They released two more albums, with several more songs which made it to the top of the charts. Though they officially broke up in 1994, they reunited 14 years later, releasing a new album and adding to the many New Kids On The Block Songs.
